In reading the article, “Pre-authorized transfers, bill from former jail contractor considered”, from the Dec. 18 newspaper, Ron Armstrong had presented a $73,797.20 bill to the Fulton Fiscal Court.

The newspaper stated we, the fiscal court, would contact the U.S. Attorney to offset the $50,000 Ron Armstrong owed the county, pursuant to his guilty plea agreement. That was not my intent.

I do not feel Fulton County owes Ron Armstrong one penny; he owes Fulton County $50,000. Once he entered his guilty plea, in Federal Court, where he agreed to reimburse Fulton County $50,000 for defrauding the County, that negated any money Fulton County may have contracted to pay him.
