AREA OBITUARIES -- GLYN MARSHALL SAMS

Glyn Marshall Sams, 86, of Fulton, passed away Feb. 26, in Paducah, Ky.

Glyn was born March 23, 1934, in Fulton, to the late Harry B. Sams and Mary Marie Johnson Sams.

He was a retired area manager at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Glyn was a United States Army veteran and avid former private pilot. In his earlier years, because of his love of riding, he enjoyed taking his horse to the Colorado mountains. He and his wife continued to travel to Colorado for many years until she became ill. He was a member of Roberts Lodge #172, a Shriner, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of South Fulton Methodist Church and had lived in this area all of his life.

Glyn was survived by a daughter, Lori (Wendel) Weitlauf of Fulton; two sons, Greg (Tammy) Sams of Nashville, Tenn., and Todd (Christy) Sams of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnny (Sherry) Sams of Sidiona, Tenn.; and one sister, Brenda Detorie of Paducah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lorretta Ann Gilbert Sams, one sister, and one brother.

Private graveside services were held. Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of arrangements.
