JAMES AUTHUR ANDERSON

James Authur Anderson, a resident of Hickman, died April 2 at his residence. He was 83.

Funeral services were held April 5 at 1 p.m., at Strong Funeral Home, in Hickman, with Bro. Mark Lambert officiating. Visitation was held April 5 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Strong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Faye (Riley) Anderson, of Hickman; one son, Phillip Anderson, of Hickman; three daughters, Teresa Anderson Amberg and Julie Vowell, both of Hickman, and Cynthia Whitman, of Water Valley; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy E. Anderson and Ethel (McKenzie) Anderson; one brother, Charles Anderson; and two sisters, Maxine Cooper and Caroline Jones.

Born Dec. 16, 1937 in Fulton County, he had worked on the river most of his life.

He had retired as Captain for the river transportation division of the AEP Company, and was of the Baptist faith.
