SOUTH FULTON ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL WILL SEE CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

May 14, 2021

Obion County Director of Schools Tim Watkins, this afternoon, confirmed there will be a change in leadership at South Fulton Elementary, Middle and High Schools for the 2021-2022 school year.

Kimberly Jackson, who has served four years as Principal of SFMS/HS will vacate that post, and current South Fulton Elementary School Principal Laura Pitts will move to the Middle/High School as Principal.

"I asked Mr. Watkins for a different assignment for next school year, which he is going to honor. However, what position that will be is not finalized at this time," Mrs. Jackson said.

"Mrs. Jackson has stepped down as Principal effective June 30 and will be reassigned within the system," Mr. Watkins said, adding Mrs. Pitts' vacated position as Principal at SFES has not yet been filled and will be "opened up."

Mr. Watkins was also asked about the status of current SFMS/HS School Resource Officer David Lamb, who reportedly will also not return to the campus for the 2021-22 school year.

"SRO personnel assignments are at the discretion of (Obion County) Sheriff Jackson. He would need to be contacted about that information," Watkins said.

A private message was composed on the Obion County Sheriff's social media page/website on Thursday, a message was left on Sheriff Jackson's voicemail Friday morning, and a call was made to the Obion County Sheriff's Department later on Friday, where a message was left with the staff member answering the telephone, to inquire about the decision made to move SRO Lamb. Sheriff Jackson was not available, the representative said.

No response has been received from Sheriff Jackson as of the posting of this information.

SRO Lamb did confirm to The Current he will no longer serve as SRO for South Fulton Middle/High School for the 2021-2022 school year, and no definite decision had been made as to his assignment, at this time.
