Customers keep relationship healthy, happy with Evans Drug

“We always wanted to own a small town, independent pharmacy,” said Amelia Prater, who, along with her husband, David Prater, own Evans Drug Company, on Lake Street in Fulton. They are both Pharmacists and purchased the business in January 2019.

With the ability to make decisions at the local level, as to the care provided to customers and patients, the Praters provide a service to the community which far surpasses the filling of a prescription bottle.

“Often, while we are able to pre-package and synchronize medicine, to allow for only one visit to the drug store each month, we have so many people to want to come in more than once a month,” Amelia said.

There are situations which expand their services, not only to the patient requiring the medication, but also to approved family members who might need assistance with scheduling the medications. Individual consultations are offered for arranging and scheduling dosages, when care-givers may not feel comfortable in tackling the process alone.

A delivery service is also provided to those who have a difficult time leaving their homes.

Following the purchase of Evans by the Praters, Amelia expanded the store’s gift line, home decor, men’s and children’s departments.

When possible, Amelia searches out Kentucky and Tennessee based merchandise, such as locally made honey, coffee and pecans.

“Not everyone has the same taste in home decorating, so I try to choose products that are unique and different from what other stores may offer, “ Amelia said.

A new children’s clothing line has been added for babies, toddlers and youngsters, as well as Burlebo shirts for men, flashlights, specialty knives and insect repellents.

In the toy department, child-friendly, durable and quality constructed playsets, games and puzzles, as well as books, provide a fun way for children to engage in creativity and learning.

“We will always be concerned about the overall health of our customers, and will continue to meet the needs of the community by always being available for everyone who comes in,” Amelia said.
