AREA OBITUARIES – NELL HEMPHILL

Nell “Momma Nell” Hemphill, a resident of Fulton, died June 26 at her residence. She was 97.

Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m. July 2 at Obion County Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. Friends may meet at the cemetery at the hour of service.

Hornbeak Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Hemphill Akers, of Fulton; a grandson, Erik (Sarah) Akers, of Schriever, La.; and a great-grandson, Silas Akers, of Schriever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hemphill; her parents, Crid Long and Opal Craven Long; and a sister, Margaret Murray.

Born Sept. 7, 1923, she was a teller at First National Bank in Clinton for over 40 years and a long time antique dealer. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School class.
