Water valve installation to require restricted traffic flow

PADUCAH, Ky. (June 15, 2022) – A utility crew plans work zone lane restrictions at a busy intersection in downtown Clinton on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Water Service Company plans work zone lane restrictions at the intersection of U.S. 51, KY 58 and KY 123 in downtown Clinton to allow installation of a new water valve. This is at the intersection of Washington Street and Clay Street in Clinton.

Extra caution is required as the crew will be working in close proximity to traffic flow in the intersection.

Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work. Motorists should pay close attention to the direction of flaggers as they approach this busy work zone.

Passenger vehicle drivers who normally travel U.S. 51, KY 58 and KY 123 in downtown Clinton should consider self-detouring via side streets to help reduce traffic volume through this restrictive work zone.

This work zone is expected to be in place from approximately 7 a.m. to about 3 p.m., on Thursday.

Approximately 6,000 vehicles travel through this intersection in downtown Clinton in an average day.

Water Service Company and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates should the work schedule have to be altered.
