Lady Bulldog Coach sees strength in 2022-23 team

In his first year at the helm, as a Head Coach, Jeffrey Klimper will guide this year’s Lady Bulldogs’ basketball team, striving to see great improvement from the previous 4-21 season record.

Four Lady Bulldogs will return to the court from that team, and Coach Klimper believes that asset, coupled with the team as a whole possessing good strength and speed, will have a positive impact on the players. He sees his biggest challenge as keeping the small, but dedicated group healthy throughout the 2022-23 schedule stretch.
Team mate leadership and unity will be vital, he indicated.

“My team leaders are definitely Mia Martin, Brittany Maclin, and Makenna Naugle. With the exception of Makenna, They have played together for a long time and know each other very well. Makenna has fit in very well with the team,” Coach Klimper said.

When it comes to shooting, he believes Naugle will come to the forefront, and defensively, Maclin will step up.6.

From what he has seen so far, Naugle is also emerging as the Lady Bulldogs’ ace ball handler.
For now, the first year coach has probable reason to peg his starters as Mia Martin at center, JeZaya Jones and Naugle as power forwards, Brittany Maclin at guard, and Shaniya Yarbrough/Desarae Johnson, forwards.

While key positions may materialize as the season progresses, Klimper said for now, the Lady Bulldogs will concentrate as a solid team.
Team operations, as well as coaching methodology has changed from last year’s team, he said.

“This year, our number one goal is to have fun and learn about ourselves, a little more,” Klimper said.
