Red Devils claim win for Homecoming, 54-12

The South Fulton High School Red Devils celebrated their 2022 Football Homecoming in a big way Oct. 7, with 296 total offensive yards gained against visiting Perry County, and a 54-12 Homecoming victory. South Fulton improved their season record to 4-3, and 2-2 in the District.

Red Devil quarterback Brady McFarland had 8 completions of his 13 throws on the night, with 158 passing yards toward the win.

South Fulton’s Conner Allen scored first, in the first quarter, on a three yard run in, with Dane Cirkles making good on the two point conversion. Allen made his way into the end zone a second time still in the first quarter, this time on a 68 yard kick-off return, but the two point attempt failed.

The Red Devils closed out the first stanza on a three yard run in from Cirkles, with Dallas Whitehead contributing two on the play.

Perry County managed to score once in the first quarter, on a Jacob Gage 26 yard pass from Josh Warren, but the Devil defense blocked the kick, ending the first quarter with a 22-6 South Fulton advantage.

Cirkles and Allen brought more of the same to the second quarter of action, with Cirkles connecting on a 27 yard pass, and a 4 yard run, while Allen made the successful 50 yard catch. Zach Hannon scored for the Red Devils, courtesy of scooping up a fumble and taking it 50 yards for the touchdown. Whitehead ran in the extra two on Cirkles’ and Hannon’s score, with Bryant Kimmons running in the two on Cirkle’s second TD, and Will Clapper adding the two-point conversion on Allen’s six.

With just over nine minutes left in the game, Perry County added in six from a 4 yard run, with the two point attempt no good.

Whitehead led the Devils with 93 yards rushing in 10 carries. Bryant Kimmons was good for 29 yards of rushing in five carries and Cirkles, 8 yards in two carries.

Cirkles had three receptions for 39 yards in the win, Allen, two receptions for 57 yards, Conner O’Neal two receptions for 54 yards, and Jonathan Doss, 8 yards in his one catch.
