SFHS boys, girls defeat Gleason Senior Night

SF 60, Greenfield 33

A make-up game on the road to Greenfield proved productive for the Lady Devils’ District play Feb. 9, with South Fulton taking the win, 60-33.

The Lady Devils limited the Lady Jackets to single digits on the board the first three quarters of play, gaining a substantial 17-5 first quarter advantage and carrying it over to a 36-14 halftime score in favor of South Fulton.

The Lady Jackets scored only 9 points in the second and third quarters of play, and topped out at 10 points in the fourth.

The Lady Devils scored 19 in both the second and third rounds, and 5 in the final quarter.

South Fulton’s Abbi McFarland achieved team-high and game-high honors with 20 points on the night, connecting on five of seven trips to the free throw line, banking three 2-point goals and three 3-point baskets.

Aubree Gore had 13 points for the Lady Devils, 2 for 2 at the line, a basket from three-point range and four 2-point goals.

Maddie Gray scored 12 points in the win, 2’s all around, with two 2-point buckets, two 3-point goals and two free throws. Katie Barclay hit two 3-pointers for her 6 points on the night, with Anna Gore recording 5 points and Addysen Wilson, 4 points.

Greenfield’s Emma Grace Alford had 9 points and Rayana Fiser, 6 in the Lady Jackets’ loss.

Greenfield 58, SF 34

The Red Devils’ results were not as favorable, with Greenfield’s ‘Jackets coming out on top, 58-34.

South Fulton’s Brady McFarland recorded a team-high 17 points, hitting both free throw attempts, one goal from three-point range and three 2-pointers.

Conner Allen had 7 points for SFHS, a 3-point goal and 4 points from the line, with Dane Cirkles depositing three 2-point baskets for his 6 points. Sam Angelos had 4 points on the night.

Greenfield’s Matt Scates collected 24 points and Carson Wills, 17 in the hosts’ win.

South Fulton High School’s basketball teams took two wins from Gleason Feb. 7, while conducting Senior Night ceremonies to recognize student athletes and their parents, at the Red Devils/Lady Devils’ gym.

SF 52, Gleason 33

In the first match of the night, the Lady Devils, led by Anna Gore with 24 points, took the win from Gleason, 52-33.

Gore connected on six 2-point goals from the field, and then moved out for three more from 3-point range. She was 3 for 3 at the line.

South Fulton’s Maddie Gray had 16 points against the Lady Bulldogs, hitting a 3-point basket and six 2’s, as well as the shot for her trip to the line.

Aubree Gore had 10 for the Lady Devils, five 2’s, and Abbi McFarland had 2 points in the win.

Gleason’s Autumn Mingle had 14 points and team mate Sophie Wilson, 9.

The Lady Devils out-shot, and out-hit Gleason in the first half, 13 to 6 at the end of the first quarter and then extended that lead to 30-18 at the halftime buzzer. The third quarter, the host Lady Devils maintained a 42-25 advantage, ending the contest in their favor, 52-33.

SF 58, Gleason 50

In the nightcap, the Red Devils recorded a 20-15 first quarter result against Gleason, and managed a 29-24 lead at the end of the first half of play. The third quarter saw the Bulldogs outscore the Devils by 1 point, 15-14, but South Fulton came back in the fourth to once again override the scoreboard, scoring 15 points to Gleason’s 11, and capture the victory, 58-50.

Brady McFarland had 20 points in the SFHS win, five 2-point goals, succeeding on 7 of 9 trips to the line and banking a 3-point basket.

Conner Allen hit 4 of 5 free throws, a connection from three-point range and hit three 2-point baskets for his 13 points, with Red Devil Dane Cirkles hitting a free throw and five 2-point goals for his 11 points in the game.

South Fulton’s Heath Harris was good for two 2-s and a 3 for 7 points, Charles M. Mulcahy had 3 points and Dylan Ruddle and Conner O’Neal each scored 2.
