Geotech drilling work to take about two weeks

PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2023) – A contractor for the Tennessee Department of Transportation plans geotech drilling along a section of KY 116/State Line Road in Fulton starting Friday, February 17, 2023.

Motorists traveling KY 116/State Line Road near the Purchase Parkway Overpass at the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line should be alert for one-lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. This work zone will be active during daylight hours whenever weather allows for about the next two weeks.

Once the geotech drilling crew completes work along KY 116/State Line Road, they plan to continue working at various locations around the U.S. 45/U.S. 51 interchange. That ongoing work may require additional work zone lane restrictions from time to time.

Data gleaned from the drilling will assist with the future redesign of the U.S. 45/U.S. 51 Interchange to provide a connecting point for Interstate 69 when it is extended down the Purchase Parkway to the state line.
