Walker named Chief

South Fulton Fire Department Assistant Chief Kenneth Walker has now been appointed Fire Chief for the city, following the dismissal of former Chief Dennis Pitman on Feb. 16.

Walker, who also serves the City of South Fulton as Code Enforcement Officer, was named as Interim Fire Chief last Thursday by South Fulton City Manager Joyce Gray, and as of Feb. 21, according to Gray, Walker accepted the full time permanent position of Fire Chief. He will also continue performing the duties of Code Enforcement Officer.

Walker began his service to the South Fulton Fire Department in November, 2013 as a volunteer, becoming a part time firefighter in 2015, was promoted to Lt. in 2017 and Captain in 2018. He began serving as Asst. Chief in March 2022. He is a Training Officer, oversees the city's medical operations, is a certified EMT in Kentucky and Tennessee and works part time with Ken-Tenn EMS.

He, his wife, Ragen and children, Cole and Kinley reside in South Fulton and are members of the House of Prayer Pentecostal Church where he serves as Pastoral Assistant.
