Julianne "Judy" Green, formerly of the South Fulton area,

died on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Obion

County Nursing Home in Union City, TN. She was 79.

Judy was born on July 15, 1943, at the Jones Hospital

in Fulton, KY. She was the daughter of the late Billy S.

Green and Mary E. Green of the McConnell community,

and was the second of five siblings.

Judy was a graduate of South Fulton High School where she

lettered in women's basketball in spite of her small frame.

She excelled in Gregg Shorthand and built a solid foundation

for various clerical positions later in life. Judy's shorthand

skill also contributed to her beautiful, fluid penmanship

which stayed with her into the years.

One of Judy's first jobs out of high school was a clerical position

at Fall & Fall Insurance on Main Street in Fulton. She impressed

Mr. Fall with her shorthand skill, and began to build on her knowledge

of the insurance world which would be most beneficial in the years to

follow.

After vacationing in Hawaii, Judy decided to join her two sisters and younger

brother for several years of work in Hawaii. One of her most

memorable and enjoyable events was a rousing evening at the officers

club, and then out on the town of Honolulu with her sisters and brother,

all as guests of the late Colonel Paul Durbin, an evening that was just short

of making the local news.

Judy later moved from Hawaii back to Memphis where she was employed

at E.H. Crump Insurance Company, Crump London Underwriters, and Memphis

Memorial Park. After moving back to South Fulton, Judy held various office positions

in the Martin area.

Judy was a fun-loving, free spirit known for her good laughter, and could deliver

joke punchlines with the skill of a stand-up comedian. She was an excellent cook

and was the family grill master. Her homemade ice cream creations were beyond

spectacular. She enjoyed working in the yard and was excited to search garden

centers for new plant varieties. Judy always felt that her love for animals was

a missed opportunity to become a veterinarian.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sisters, Alma Jean

Green and Elizabeth "Libby" Stroud, and her youngest brother, Glynn Walker Green.

She is survived by a brother, Billy M. Green of Charlotte, NC, a niece Savannah

Elizabeth Stroud of Madison, TN, an aunt Mrs. Margaret Green of Swansea, IL

and numerous cousins.

The family offers special thanks to the entire staff and residents at the Obion County

Nursing Home for providing Judy a safe, comfortable, and loving home for the final

years of her life.

A joint memorial service to remember the lives of Judy Green and her late sisters Alma Jean

Green and Libby Stroud will be held at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, Inc., 302 Carr Street, Fulton,

KY on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12Noon

Saturday until the hour of service.
