Defense, dedication, drive Lady Devils’ assets

When an on-stage performance features a veteran cast and a seasoned director, it really doesn’t matter whether you’ve seen the same show multiple times. You just know if you watch it again, it will still be good.

Envision the stage as Lee Field, the director is the 24-year Coach, Kurt Lee, for whom the field is named, and the cast of characters are listed within the entries of the 2023 South Fulton Lady Red Devils’ Softball Team roster.

All 15 members of this year’s team, which includes six freshmen, five sophomores, three juniors and one senior, played for Coach Lee during the 2022 season.

Sophomore Maddie Gray will be back on the mound for the Lady Red Devils. Juniors, and sisters, Aubree Gore and Anna Gore will take the short stop and third base post, respectively.

Another sophomore, Hadley Barnes, will be in center field, and junior Abbi McFarland will oversee second base. The other positions, according to Coach Lee, have yet to be determined.

Citing defense as a team strength this year, Coach Lee also is quick to note “offense is something we need to improve on....” when it comes to mounting battle strategies against the 2023 schedule with Dresden’s Lady Lions a district notable, and Halls Lady Tigers, a top regional opponent.

“Our goal for this year, is first, to win the District, then get into that Regional Championship game,” Coach Lee said.
