FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TVA Planned Outage for Clinton Substation

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will have a scheduled outage on Sunday morning, April 30 that will

affect about 2,500 of Gibson Electric Membership Corporation’s member-owners served out of its

Clinton, Kentucky substation (areas north of Clinton and east of Hickman). The outage is scheduled to

begin at 12:01 AM on Sunday morning and is expected to last until about 5 AM.

During the outage TVA will place a new transformer into service at the Clinton Substation. TVA says this

should be the last planned outage related to the January 2021 substation vandalism.

The work performed during this outage will enhance long-term service reliability.

“Gibson EMC is attempting to telephone and email our members who will be affected,” said Rita

Alexander, VP of Human Resources and Member Services. “The repairs will benefit our members by

enhancing future service reliability and by helping us to avoid a potentially longer, unplanned outage,“

she said. “Even so, we apologize for the inconvenience it will cause and we appreciate our members’

patience and understanding.”

Gibson EMC encourages members who do not receive a text, call, or email but who do experience the

outage to call the cooperative and provide an up-to-date telephone number and email address so we

can communicate successfully regarding any future planned outages. Members also are encouraged to

visit the Gibson EMC Facebook page for more information about this planned outage and other news.

Gibson EMC is a local, not-for-profit, member-owned and member-controlled electric cooperative

serving almost 39,000 homes and businesses in eight west Tennessee counties (Crockett, Dyer, Gibson,

Haywood, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion and Madison) and four west Kentucky counties (Carlisle, Fulton,

Graves, and Hickman).
