Samuel Leon Mann, age 94, of Franklin, Tenn. and formerly of Fulton, Ky., died July 13, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in Franklin, Tenn.

Mr. Mann was born on January 30, 1929 in Fulton, Ky. to the late James Adrian Mann and Evelyn Myrl Lemond Mann.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton, and a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1950-52. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Club.

Leon was self-employed as a painter for many years, and owner of The Nearly Nu Shoppe for 13 years.

He always loved to tell stories of his past and was known to many as “the oldest Mann in Tennessee!”

Mr. Mann is survived by his son, Randy (Karen) Mann of Union City, Tenn.; his daughter, Connie (Brian) Ray of Franklin, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Austin Ray of Nashville, Tenn.; and Katie (Jude) Calcado of Spring Hill, Tenn.; brothers Johnny (Gladys) Mann of Hampton, Va.; and Bobby (Myra) Mann of Gilbertsville, Ky.; sisters Carolyn (Waymon) Duncan of Calvert City, Ky.; and Mae (Dr. Bill) Croft of New Albany, Ind.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Rice Rudd Mann; brothers James Mann, Snooky Mann, Don Mann, Marvin Russell Mann, Tommy Mann, Marshall Mann and David Mann; sisters Shirley Wade and Gene Bright.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2023 in the funeral chapel of Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton with burial to follow in the Greenlea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 until the hour of service.
