AREA OBITUARIES -- BILLY WAYNE BROOKS

Billy Wayne Brooks, age 92, of South Fulton, Tenn. passed away on Jan. 22,2024 at Cane Creek Rehabilitation Center in Martin, Tenn.

He was born on June 25, 1931 in Obion County, Tenn. to the late Luther and Laura Belle Collins Brooks. He was a member of the McConnell Baptist Church and was a farmer.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his daughters Patsy Shelby of Lynnville, Ky. and Nancy Gatewood of Martin, Tenn., five grandchildren, Larry Dale Shelby and Lori Ann Frazier both of Lynnville, Todd Gatewood of Fairview, Tenn.,

Missy Coleman of Martin and Courtney Mosley of Dresden, Tenn., 10 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Keith Brooks of South Fulton and Allan Ray Terrell of Union City, Tenn. and niece Kim

Little of Kenton, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his wife Estelle Brooks, three brothers, Charles Brooks, Glen Brooks and Morton Brooks and a sister Helen Terrell.

Pallbearers were Cody Little, Todd Gatewood, Larry Shelby, Charlie Reams, David Frazier, and Charles Cory Brooks and Honorary Pallbearers include Johnny Vincent, Jackie Garner, Marvin Holley, Tom Seratt and Richard Moss.

Funeral service was held on Thurs., Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Eastside Cemetery in Martin. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 24.
