South Fulton Red Devils close out 2024 season

South Fulton High School Red Devils had a full schedule last week, going up against Gleason April 30, Dresden May 1, Lake County May 2 and double booking on May 4, against Gleason and Union City.

The Red Devils shut out Gleason’s Bulldogs 10-0 April 30.

Red Devil Charles Michael Mulcahy pitched the duration, giving up only three hits and striking out 10 batters.

Dylan Bynum scored 3 runs for South Fulton, Jayden Wilder and Brady McFarland scored two a piece and Mulcahy, Braden Gore and Carson Gilbert crossed the plate once for the Red Devils.

Gore was 3 for 3 at bat, with Bynum and McFarland, 2 for 2. Bynum had an RBI to his credit, and Kaedyn Haynes had 3 RBI’s in the game. Haynes and Wilder each had a hit.

For Gleason, K. Crochet pitched, giving up 10 runs and 9 hits, striking out 5. P. Morgan was 2 for 3 at bats.

South Fulton was on the receiving end of a shut out May 1 against Dresden, dropping the matchup 10-0.

Adon Rushing was on the mound for 3 innings for the Red Devils, and Mason Parrish, for 2.

Rushing allowed 7 hits and 6 runs, and Parrish, 6 hits and 4 runs.

Mulcahy and Bynum had one hit each for South Fulton.

Dresden’s C. Perry pitched for 4.2 innings, striing out 8, and N. Turnbow pitched for 1.1 innings and struck out one batter.

C. Schlict was 3 for 4 at bat and T. Thomas was 3 for 3, with 3 runs scored.

The Devils climbed back to the top on May 2, beating Lake County Falcons, 8-2.

McFarland hitched for 5 innings, fanning 8, letting 2 hits and a run get by. He also scored a run, and marked 3 RBI’s.

Mulcahy and Wilder had 2 runs each, with one run a piece scored by Haynes, Rushing and Joyner, who also recorded 2 RBI’s.

Lake County’s L. Smith struck 2 out in five innings, and gave up 5 hits and all eight runs.

L. Sith and B. Byrd each had a hit, and B. Seiber scored for the Falcons.

Wilder crossed the plate 3 times for the Red Devils’ win against Gleason, and Mulcahy, McFarland, Grant Joyner, Haynes, Mason Parrish and Bynum, twice. Gore scored one run.

Wilder, McFarland, Gore and Joyner all had hits.

Mulcahy was on the mound for 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 7 run, striking out 9 batters.

For Gleason, A. Legens was 2 for 3 at bat, scored 2 uns and pitched 2.2 innings. A Morgan pitched 2.2 innings and was good on 3 of 4 at bats. Morgan also scored three times for the Bulldogs.

In the game that draw to a close the Red Devils 2024 baseball season, South Fulton saw the last two innings of thee game May 4 against Union City be the deciding factor, as the Tornadoes scored 5 innings in the fifth, to the Red Devils’ 1, and then found themselves limited to a single run in the sixth while Union City doubled that number with 2.

McFarland, and Gore had 2 runs a piece, and Parrish scored once for the Devils.

Gore was good on 2 of 3 at bats, with Mulcahy and Haynes 2 for 4 trips. Wilder, McFarland, Bynum, Rushing and Parrish all had a hit a piece.

Bynum pitched 4.1 innings, striking out 3, allowing 9 hits and 8 runs. Joyner pitched 1.2 innings, struck out one batteer, and gave up 2 runs and 4 hits.

For Union City, B. Cox pitched 6 innings, allowing 11 hits and 5 runs, while W. Ragsdale pitched an inning and struck out 2.

Ragsdale was 3 for 4 at bats and scored 3 runs, while Union City’s K. Southerland was 3 for 3 and scored twice.
