AREA OBITUARIES-- GLENDA "MERT" EDGIN AREA OBITUARIES-- GLENDA "MERT" EDGIN

Glenda Jo "Mert" Edgin, 79, of Hickman, Kentucky passed away 12:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home, Union City, Tenn. Brother Dwayne Uzzle will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Edgin, Austin Newton, Chris Jackson, Beau Simmons, Bobby Ray Newton, Jesse Dale Newton and Randy Yates.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Monday.

Glenda was born September 23, 1944, in Hickman, Kentucky, daughter of the late Herman Mayo and the late Helen (Harrison) Mayo Shields. She married Danny Glen Edgin February 8, 1964. He preceded her in death February 6, 1995. Glenda had been employed as secretary at E.W. James in Hickman for 27 years. She loved to travel, read and was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Union City.

She is survived by one son, John Edgin of Hickman, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Keisha Jackson and husband Chris of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Johnna Newton and husband Austin, Hailee Edgin and Alexis Edgin all of Hickman, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Kylee McClure of Union City, Kaycee Bastani of Mayfield, Kentucky and Eastyn Newton and Coltyn Newton both of Hickman, Kentucky; one sister, Patricia Lowery of Michigan; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Shields and Barbara Mayo both of Hickman, Kentucky.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Edgin; and five brothers, Bobby Mayo, Edward Mayo, Jackie Shields, Johnny Shields and Thomas Shields
