AREA OBITUARIES -- VALDA JEAN DARNELL

Valda Jean Darnell, age 92, formerly of Wingo, Ky., passed away Wed., June 19, 2024 at the Life Care Center of Bruceton.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1931 in Palmersville, Tenn., to the late Troy Turbeville and Mamie Ridgeway Turbeville.

Valda was a member of the Bethlehem Methodist Church in Pilot Oak and retired from the former Henry I. Siegel as a Supervisor.

She was a member of the Red Hats and lived most of her life in this area.

She is survived by a daughter Kathy Hooten, of Camden, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Craig James, of Wingo, Kyle Hooten, of Camden, and Jeff Hooten, of Tucson, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Sara and Brandon Hooten, of Camden; and one great-great grandson, Rowyn Stone, of Camden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, WT "Billy" Darnell; and a brother, John D. Turbeville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Valda Darnell were held at 11 a.m. Sat., June 22, 2024 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, with burial in the Good Springs Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 5 -8 p.m. Fri., June 21, 2024.

Pallbearers were Craig James, Shane Tibbs, Cole Duncan, Shane Jackson, Jesse Brown and Robert Brown.
