AREA OBITUARIES -- NANCY ATWILL

Mrs. Nancy Wood Atwill, age 84, of Fulton, Ky. passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at the Etheridge House in Union City, Tenn.

She was born on August 8, 1939 in Water Valley, Ky. to the late Clyde Wood and Anna Belle Bennett Wood.

Nancy was a long-time member of the Fulton First United Methodist Church and also attended Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church in her later years.

She was also a former member of the Fulton County Homemakers Club.

Nancy graduated from Fulton City High School and was a homemaker when her children were young. Then she went to work in the church nursery at Fulton First United Methodist Church, at Wendy's in Fulton and finally at Carr Elementary in Fulton until her retirement.

She was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and loved Elvis's music and movies. Nancy lived all of her life in this area.

She is survived by her daughter Leisa Atwill Beaton of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; her son Craig (Christy) Atwill of Union City, Tenn., six grandchildren: Bobby Beaton and Brian Beaton both of Knoxville, Tenn.; Emily Beaton (Abey Thomas) of Greer, S.C.; Matthew Atwill, Austin Atwill and Clare Atwill all of Union City, Tenn.; a niece Crystal Craddock (Anthony) Posey of New Orleans, La. and a nephew Luke (Angelia) Craddock of Fulton, Ky..

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Clem "Sonny" Atwill, whom she married June 29, 1958, a sister Judy Wood Craddock and a son-in-law, Darryl Beaton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024 in the Hornbeak Funeral Home funeral chapel with

burial to follow in the Cayce United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of service.
