SFMS Lady Devils Obion County champs

South Fulton Middle School’s Lady Red Devils softball team claimed the Obion County Tournament crown Oct. 3, first defeating Hillcrest in a shut-out, 20-0 and then allowing Lake Road just 1 run in an 11-1 win for the title.
Avery Faulkner was on the mound for the first win of the evening against the Hillcrest Lady Cougars. Faulkner allowed no hits, no runs and struck out 5. She was also 2 for 3 at bat, and scored 3 runs in the South Fulton effort. 
Lilie Martin was 3 for 3 at bat for the Lady Devils and had 2 RBIs to her credit.
Audriana Mulcahy scored 2 runs, and was 2 for 2 at bat, Alli McFarland was 2 for 4 at bat and scored 2 runs, Emma Hamrick scored a run, as did M. Stanfield, Olivia Morehead, Jentri Burke, M. Becerra, and A. Allen. 
Aveyanna Johnson scored 3 runs, Abbi Bellamy and L. Coble scored 2 a piece.
For Hillcrest, A. Poore gave up 4 hits and 8 runs, and struck out 1.
The Lady Devils scored 12 runs in the first inning, and 8 in the second, for the three-inning match up.
In game two, Audriana Mulcahy pitched for 4 innings for South Fulton, scored 2 runs and was 1 for 1 at bat. She gave up 2 hits and a run from the mound.
McFarland and Faulkner came home 2 times each for the Lady Devils, with a run scored by Bellamy, Hamrick, K. Wallace, Katie Grace Joyner and Aveyanna Johnson.
Martin was 2 for 3 at bat for the winners.
For Lake Road, Medley pitched, allowing 5 hits and 11 runs and 2 strike-outs recorded.
The Lady Devils were up 4-0 at the end of the first inning, increased the margin 6-0 in the second, and each team scored a run in the third. South Fulton then crossed the plate 4 times in the fourth and final inning of play for the victory and the championship Obion County crown.
