AREA OBITUARIES -- SHIRLEY ANN RHODES

Mrs. Shirley Ann Rhodes, age 85, of Water Valley, Ky., passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Fulton Nursing and Rehab in Fulton, Ky.

She was born on August 13, 1939 in Berkley, Ky. to the late Thomas Zell Burgess and Mildred Mofield Burgess.

Shirley was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and worked at the former Brown Shoe as a supervisor. She lived all of her life in this area.

She is survived by two sons; Roger Rhodes of Huntsville, Ala., and Jamie Rhodes (Sonia) of South Fulton, Tenn., three grandchildren, Jarrod Rhodes of South Fulton, Tenn., Roger Rhodes, Jr (Kristi) of Nashville, Tenn. and Jennifer Duncan of Knoxville, Tenn., seven great-grandchildren, Emma and Evan Rhodes of Troy, Tenn., Mattie,Caroline and Roger Rhodes III all of Nashville, Tenn., Jimmy andCharlotte Duncan both of Knoxville, Tenn. and three sisters, Jean Weatherly and Vicky Cook both of South Fulton, Tenn. and Sue Wyatt of New Orleans, La.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Rhodes, a sister, Kay Kimbro and a brother, Buddy Burgess.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Rhodes will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2024 in the Hornbeak Funeral Home funeral chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service.
