Evans Drug. Co. legacy continues downtown
November 19, 2024
"We opened here because we were given the opportunity to purchase Evans in 2019. We were excited to be a part of the Evans Drugstore legacy, Our hope is to continue the tradition of caring for our community while being part of the changes that prepare Evans for the future," said Amelia Prater, who along with her husband, Fulton Mayor David Prater own Evans Drug Company. Both are Pharmacists, and reside in Fulton.
Evans Drug Company, in business for 105 years, is located at 214 Lake St. and the telephone number is 270-472-2421
Their hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:30 to 12 noon Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays.
"Working in healthcare and owning a small business doesn't allow much time for hobbies, but we do like to make time for enjoying the many aspects of creation that make southwest Kentucky, northwest Tennessee so beautiful," Amelia said.
She said they are blessed with a great staff, many that have worked at the business for years and are like family.
" We were happy to add another hometown pharmacist, Skylar Britt, a few years ago. We have added vaccinations to our services and hopefully more services in the future. We love our gift lines, especially our baby gifts and toys," Amelia said.
The easiest, best thing about owning a small business in a small town, according to Amelia, is building relationships and being given the opportunity to directly help people.
"Our community is very supportive and their kind words are encouraging and help us to keep going daily," she said. The hardest thing about operating a small business, is the rising costs and competition from online retailers, she added.

A healthy Fulton County requires great community news.
