FCHS Lady Pilots improve to 9-3

The Fulton County High School Lady Pilots picked up their eighth and ninth win of the season with a pair of home victories over District rivals in Carlisle County Jan. 9 and Fulton City Jan. 13 in the opening round of the First Region Girls’ Tournament. 
The Lady Pilots are now 9-3 on the season, and have advanced to play the Carlisle County Lady Comets in the second round of the First Region Girls’ Tournament Jan. 16 at Graves County High School.
FCHS 61, FHS 24
The Lady Pilots used a hot shooting night from the field to secure a victory over the Lady Bulldogs Jan. 13. The Lady Pilots shot 58.3% from the field, making 28 of their 48 field goal attempts, and 62.5% from behind the three-point line, making five of their eight attempts.
JaMesha Brown led the Lady Pilots with 21 points, making 10 of her 15 field goal attempts, including one of her two three-point attempts. Also scoring were Kylee Harrison with 14, Hannah Murphy with 12, Taylan Hendrix with eight, and Jaleeha Smith with six points.
The host pulled down 25 total rebounds, with Brown having a team-high seven rebounds. Also pulling down boards for the Lady Pilots were Smith with six, Harrison with four, A’Miijah Freeman, Hendrix, and LaBreah Crumble with two each, and Murphy and Carolina Parker with one rebound each.
FCHS 51, CCHS 39
The Pilots made 21 of their 61 field goal attempts, including two of nine from behind the three-point line. They also made seven of their 24 free-throw attempts.
JaMesha Brown led the Lady Pilots with 26 points, followed by Jaleeha Smith and Kylee Harrison each with eight points, Taylan Hendrix with four points, Hannah Murphy with three points, and LaBreah Crumble with two points.
The Lady Pilots pulled down 33 total rebounds, led by Smith with 12 rebounds. Also grabbing boards were Brown with seven, Murphy with six, Hendrix with five and Harrison with three.
