FES awards James O. Butts Scholarships

Three high school seniors are the 2025 recipients of the James O. Butts Scholarships. Josiah Alford, Jamesha Brown, and McKayden McClure will each receive a $500 award to assist in their higher education journey. 
Josiah Alford, a graduate of Fulton Independent High School, plans to attend Murray State University and major in Computer Science. Alford is an honor student and was active on the school Academic Team and Yearbook.
Jamesha Brown, a graduate of Fulton County High School, will attend Brescia University. At Fulton County, she was an honor student and participated in HOSA, FFA, and Beta Club. Brown holds the school record of scoring 2,300 points in basketball, more than any other player in school history. She intends to focus upon a degree in Nursing.
McKayden McClure, Obion County Central High School, was a National Honor Society member, Homecoming Queen, and a member of the Cheerleading squad and Cross Country team. She will attend the University of Tennessee at Martin. 
The James O. Butts scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who receive their electricity from Fulton Electric, or are dependents of the utility’s employees. 
James O. Butts led Fulton Electric System, both as a board member and as Chairman, for many decades. He was a committed supporter of higher education.
