AREA OBITUARIES – Glenda Faye Cochrum

Glenda Faye Cochrum, age 85, of Hickman, Ky., passed away peacefully at her residence on Mon. June 2, 2025. She was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Fulton, Ky., to the late Edward B. Wiley and Lillie Mae Pearson Wiley.
A Hickman native, she graduated from the former Hickman High School in 1957 and then the former Murray State College in Murray, Ky. She embarked on a distinguished 30-year career as an educator with the Fulton County Board of Education, serving with dedication in special education. Following her retirement, she continued to contribute her talents, working as a copy editor for the former Hickman Courier Newspaper for seven years. Glenda’s commitment to her community extended beyond her professional life, as she was a former member of the Fulton County Transit Authority Board and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Glenda was a devoted wife to her husband, Donald Reid Cochrum, for 50 years, until his passing. Her life was filled with love for her family. 
She is survived by her daughter, Leanne (Greg) Kirchdorfer, of Naples, Fla.; her son, John Claude (Leigh) Cochrum, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and five grandchildren, Conner, Cullen, and Chloe Kirchdorfer, all of Naples, Fla., and Jacob and Eli Cochrum, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and her sister, Sara Denise Smith, of Hickman, Ky.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Clifton Reid Cochrum; her sister, Patricia Shafer; and her brother, Edward “Bud” Wiley.
Known to everyone as Miss Glenda, her legacy extends beyond her professional achievements, and she will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering dedication to her family, and her enduring contributions to the Hickman community.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Mon., June 9, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hickman, Ky., with Father Anthoni Ottagan and Father Robert Drury officiating. Burial will follow at Hickman City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the hour of the Funeral Mass.
