AREA OBITUARIES – Mary Arline Coley

Mary Arline Coley, age 83, of South Fulton, Tenn., passed away Sat., Aug. 2, 2025 at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1941 in Ballard County, Ky., to the late Arlie Viniard and Mary Louise Hughes Viniard.
She was a member of the Fulton First Baptist Church, where she was in the Gleaners Sunday School and the Second Milers Club.
She worked for the former WFUL in Fulton, then went to work in 1964 at the Sears and Roebuck Stores in South Fulton and Union City, Tenn., for 28 years.
She then started working in the banking industry, as she worked at First State Bank in South Fulton then retiring in 2020 from The Citizens Bank in Union City. She also served two terms as Fulton City Commissioner. She was very involved with her grandchildren and great grand child.
She is survived by a son, Jeff (Kathy) Swearingen of South Fulton, Tenn.; a daughter Karen (Andy) Whitlock, of Clinton, Ky.; a step-son, Jon Meacham, of South Fulton, Tenn.; a step-daughter, Jan Meacham Walker, of Milan, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Lauren Swearingen, of Franklin, Tenn., Lisa Swearingen, of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Emma Whitlock, of Clinton, Ky.; a great-grandson, Conner McManis, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Harold Viniard, of Mayfield, Ky., and Phillip (Audrey) Viniard, of Mayfield, Ky.; two sisters, Shirley Workman, of Fulton, Ky., and Nancy Kaye Higgins, of Fancy Farm, Ky.; and her companions, Toby and Camden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Meacham; her second husband Roy Coley Jr.; two brothers, Charles Viniard and Carroll Rocky Viniard; and a sister, Estelle Yancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wed., August 6, 2025 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Ballard County. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
