Fulton Independent School District announces Dr. Darrell Witten as Superintendent

The Fulton Independent School District recently announced Dr. Darrell Witten has accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Witten brings much experience in public education, including service as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, district administrator, assessment coordinator, educational recovery specialist with the Kentucky Department of Education, university supervisor, adjunct professor, and, most recently, Interim Superintendent of Fulton Independent Schools. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to student success, educational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement.
A native Kentuckian and lifelong educator, Dr. Witten holds a Doctorate in K–12 Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, along with Educational Specialist, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees from Western Kentucky University. He holds Kentucky certifications as a Superintendent, Director of Pupil Personnel, Instructional Supervisor, and Principal at all levels.
During his career, Dr. Witten has successfully managed district budgets and grants, led school improvement initiatives, coordinated district assessment programs, supervised curriculum and instructional programs, supported school turnaround efforts across Kentucky, and helped districts strengthen student achievement through data-driven decision-making and strategic planning. His leadership experience spans rural, independent, and county school districts throughout the Commonwealth.

The Fulton Independent Board of Education expressed confidence in Dr. Witten’s leadership and vision for the district’s future. His extensive background in instructional leadership, school improvement, finance, personnel management, and community engagement positions him well to lead the district as it continues to build upon its strengths and pursue new opportunities for students.
Dr. Witten’s priorities include maintaining a strong focus on student achievement, supporting and developing staff, strengthening community partnerships, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and creating innovative opportunities that prepare students for success in college, careers, and life.
