Weather hampers SFMS Red Devils win

by Charles Choate

Weather was the only thing that was going to stop the South Fulton Middle School Red Devils, in last week’s football game against Lake Road.

Following a quick touchdown by the Generals, South Fulton ran off 30 straight points, enroute to a 30-8 win at home.

Lake Road quarterback Aden McBride got the Generals on the board on their first series with a touchdown run and 8-0 lead.

The game then belonged to the Red Devils running back Dallas Whitehead, who scored on touchdown runs of 13, 8 and 43-yards for a 22-8 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter, Whitehead crossed the endzone on a four-yard run to cap off the nights scoring.

When the teams took the halftime break, lightning and rain moved into the area, causing game officials to stop play for the night.

Whitehead ended with 119-yards rushing, followed by Brady McFarland with 22-yards and Josh McKnight with 12 yards.

On the Red Devils defensive side of the football, Connor Lawrence was credited with six tackles, Whitehead with five and Connor O’Neal with three.

The win evened South Fulton’s record at 1-1.
