FIS BEGINS IN-PERSON CLASSES OCT. 5, VIRTUAL LEARNING STILL AVAILABLE FIS BEGINS IN-PERSON CLASSES OCT. 5, VIRTUAL LEARNING STILL AVAILABLE

(The following information was released by Fulton Independent Superintendent DeAnna Miller Oct. 1, posted on the FIS facebook page:)

Although the Fulton County COVID rate is at 38% today, the COVID numbers in City of Fulton are much lower. Our school district numbers have decreased dramatically this week. Last week we had 23 staff and students on quarantine with 2 positive COVID cases and this week we have 3 staff & students on quarantine, all of which are in the same household. The rate for the city of Fulton is only 17% if the nursing home cases are removed from the equation.

Based on this information, I have made the decision that we will begin in-person classes on Monday, Oct 5. We will probably see a small spike in numbers but I believe that will happen whenever we begin school. Please know that we will take every precaution to protect students and staff from the virus. A big part of this begins at home with everyone washing their hands frequently, wearing a mask when in public and not going out of your home if you are sick.

If you are uncomfortable with your child attending in person classes next week, please call Mrs. Dana Crawford at 270-472-1553 to make arrangements for your student to join the Bulldog Virtual Academy.

Thank you,

DeAnna Miller
