Union City man charged with second-degree murder in shooting death

Keyshaun Townsend, 23, of Union City, Tenn., faces a charge of second degree murder, in the shooting death of his cousin, Marcus Taylor, 25, a native of Union City.

According to a press release issued by Union City Police Department, on April 3, at approximately 10 p.m., UCPD officers were dispatched to Eastgate Apartment Complex, about shots fired, and a subject reportedly laying on the ground.

Upon arrival, the report states officers discovered the victim, identified as Taylor, had been transported to Baptist Hospital in Union City by private vehicle, with gunshot wounds.

Taylor later succumbed to his wounds, pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m., by emergency personnel.

The investigation revealed that Townsend shot Taylor multiple times, leading to his death.

Townsend was lodged in the Obion County Jail.
