Want a fun way to kick off your Memorial Day weekend? Visit us at Discovery Park of America for a sunset concert. Join Electric Gumbo and Hinson Hill at the Train Depot Stage for family-friendly fun including fishing, food trucks, live music and a cash bar. On Sat., May 15 and Sun., May 16, all scouts in uniform will receive free general admission to Discovery Park. Scouts will especially benefit from the Cardboard Boat Regatta on Saturday at the South Lake at 11 a.m. During this event, competitors race their boats created and handmade with cardboard during an exciting series of races to see which boat wins; or simply stays afloat. Not only will scouts watch STEAM principles applied to a fun and creative project, they will experience teamwork, competition and sportsmanship on display at the same time.

Teams around the region are hard at work putting the final touches on their cardboard boats for this Saturday’s Cardboard Boat Regatta at the South Lake at Discovery Park beginning at 11 a.m. It’s one of Discovery Park’s most popular events. These boats are made from duct tape, cardboard and a lot of creative flair, so it’s almost as much fun to watch as it is to compete. The registration fee is waived for all student teams.

Still need to sign up? Register your cardboard boat online or by calling 731-885-5455 and asking for the education team
