Although the former Cayce School is among the oldest of structures in Cayce, the building remained structurally intact upon the hill, overlooking the destruction suffered by families within the small Fulton County community. The mound of twisted metal was once the home to the Cayce location of the Fulton County Fire and Rescue Squad. The four-way stop, a long standing landmark in Fulton County appears somewhat unrecognizable with no buildings or structures remaining. Snapped trees and debris from homes now demolished accumulated on roadways and in fields and lawns throughout the area. According to reports, there were 25 homes destroyed by the tornado, which first touched down at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday night. One death was also reported, however, the name of the deceased has not yet been released. Insurance adjusters and power company trucks from a number of regional municipalities as well as emergency workers were at the scene throughout the weekend. (Photos by Benita Fuzzell)
