Fulton, Hickman Counties among recipients of Cleaner Water Program funding
Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman recently announced more than $7,095,000 in funding to seven Western Kentucky counties including Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Christian, Fulton and Hickman.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear’s Cleaner Water Program provided the funding, with an aim to improve drinking water and wastewater throughout the Commonwealth.
Lt. Gov. Coleman presented awards on Feb. 10 in Fulton at the Pontotoc Building for Fulton County, with the City of Fulton receiving $109,609, to replace a Sewer Lift Station "A" to avoid sewer backup in residential homes near Carr Elementary school and the City of Hickman receiving $109,609, to replace the Booster Pump station that services the Brownsville community.
Hickman County funding included the City of Columbus receiving $160,860 for repairs to the water treatment plant; and Hickman County $750,000, along with the Mission House, through a Community Development Block Grant for a center serving as the central hub for the distribution of commodities to residents of Hickman County.
