AREA OBITUARIES-- MARY AKERS

Mrs. Mary Akers, age 92, of South Fulton, Tenn. passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at her residence.

She was born on March 4, 1930 in Huntington, Tenn. to the late George Gatton and Ruth Simpson Gatton.

Mary was of the Church of Christ faith and was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in this area.

She is survived by her children: Phillip Akers of South Fulton, George Blane Akers of South Fulton, Mike (Jennifer) Akers of South Fulton, six grandchildren: Denise Akers of Martin, Tenn., Chris "Bubba" (Alicia) Akers of Coffieville, Oklahoma, Levi Akers of South Fulton, Nikki (Jeremiah) McBride of Union City, Tenn., Ashley (Hunter) Casey of Clarksville, Tenn. and Lane Akers of Union City, thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren,a daughter-in-law, Teresa Akers of South Fulton, a nephew Brent (Wanda) Gatton of South Coffieville, Oklahoma, and a niece, Janet (Charles) Key of Texas.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles Huffman Akers, Sr., a son Charles H. Akers, Jr., a daughter Pam Akers and three brothers: Charles Lee Gatton, Harry Robert Gatton and George Elbert Gatton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 28, 2022 in the Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton's funeral chapel with burial to follow in the Greenlea Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 5-7 PM Wednesday.
