James "Jim" Pharis James "Jim" Pharis

James "Jim" Pharis, of Clinton, Ky., passed away Thurs. evening, July 28 at his residence.

He was born in Fulton, Ky. on March 13, 1942 to the late Thurman Pharis and Dorotha Ezell Pharis.

He was a retired dairy and chicken farmer with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry from Western Kentucky University.

He was a member of the Parkway Church of Christ and had lived in the area most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Pharis, to whom he married on Oct. 3, 1981; two sons, Michael Hinkle (Tracie), of Chesapeake, Va., and Scott Pharis (Lana) of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Peyton Hinkle, of Chesapeake, Va., Preston Hinkle, of Chesapeake, Va., and Thatcher Pharis, of Bardwell, Ky.; one sister, Phyllis Pharis Beate, of Rock Hill, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Judy Pharis Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sun., July 31 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel, in Fulton, with a private burial to follow at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
