Quickness powers up this year’s Bulldogs

This year’s Fulton Independent High School Bulldogs return six players to the 2022-23 basketball team, as well as Head Coach John Dillard, who has eight years under his belt at Fulton City.

He, along with a solid roster of new and familiar Bulldogs, intend to capitalize on quickness and size, to overcome a 2-23 season record for 2021-22.

“Our strength is our quickness and size. Our biggest challenge is going to be taking care of the basketball and limiting our turnovers,” Dillard said.

He will look to his three seniors on the team, to set examples and step into a leadership role this year.

Those three include Tristan Lalley, who is the best three-point shooter on the team, according to Dillard, Isaiah Kimble, who is a defensive stand-out, Jacob Madding, who will take a starter’s position on the 2022-23 Bulldog team.

When it comes to maneuvering, Jamar or Jamal Martin are best ball handlers on the floor.

Those two will also secure a starting position.

Tristan Lalley or Jacob Madding, Isaiah Kimble and Cameron Morris will also be called on for stepping into the starters’ posts.

While the Head Coach sees Mayfield as the toughest opponent, most likely, on this year’s schedule, he also sees that the 2022-23 Bulldogs are a much better group defensively, than in the past.

“Our goal is the same as every year. That goal is, to finish in the top two in the district and then advance to the regional tournament,”Coach Dillard said.
