SF Lady Devils’ wins ongoing

South Fulton High School’s Lady Red Devils put away Bradford and Gleason last week, recording wins against both on Jan. 17 and Jan. 20, respectively.

SFHS 53, Bruceton 22

South Fulton High School’s Lady Red Devils continued their run of victories, with a win over Bruceton at home Jan. 23, 53-22.

Anna Gore led the Lady Devils with 25 points, sinking a three-point goal and connecting on 11 2-point baskets.

Aubree Gore scored 13 points in the SF win, going three for three at the line and recording five 2-point goals, with team mate Abbi McFarland adding in 10 on the night, one of her baskets from three-point range, hitting three of six free throw attempts and hitting two 2-point goals from the field.

Lady Devil Maddie Gray had 4 points in the game.

Bruceton’s Mykenzie Burton had 5 points for the visitors.

The Lady Devils had an 18-12 advantage at the end of the first half of play, then scored 26 points in the second half to Bruceton’s 10.

SFHS 59, Bradford 26

Holding Bradford to single digits in all four quarters of action Jan. 17, allowing only 2 points in the first, 9 in the second, 7 in the third and 8 in the fourth for their opponents, the Lady Devils produced points from eight team members on the night, led by Abbi McFarland with 16 points, from a perfect 12 for 12 at the line, and two 2-point goals.

Aubree Gore shot two for two at the line, then added a three point basket and a couple of two-point goals for her 9 points toward the winning effort, with Maddie Gray collecting 8 points, Anna Gore, Jennefer Wallace, Addysen Wilson and Katie Barclay each contributing 6 points a piece. Jadyn Rushin had 2 points for the Lady Devils.

South Fulton stayed ahead 18-2 in the first quarter and at the half, increased the Bradford deficit to a 32-11 tally on the board. The Lady Devils continued the trend in the third, scoring 13 points to Bradford’s 7, and then sealed the victory, outscoring Bradford 14-8 for the 59-26 final, and a South Fulton win.

For Bradford, Saniah Thomas had 9 points and Rebecca Wood, 8.

SFHS 70, Gleason 59

Abbi McFarland pounded in 29 points followed by Maddie Gray’s 25 against Gleason Jan. 20, as McFarland continued her success at the line, 10 for 10 and brought home three goals from three-point range as well as five 2-point buckets. Gray had six 2-pointers, three 3-s and was good for 4 of six free throws.

Katie Barclay had 5 points in the Lady Devils’ contest, Aubree Gore had 4 and South Fulton recorded 3 points a piece from Anna Gore and Jennefer Wallace.

Gleason’s Sophie Wilson had 6 points and Ava Sawyers, 5.

The Lady Devils ran away with a 20-13 lead in the first and found themselves on top 38-16 at the half. The third quarter it was more of the same, as South Fulton secured a 56- 33 advantage over Gleason. The Lady Devils held the Bulldogs to only 3 points in the fourth quarter, to their 14, for a 70-36 mark in the win column for South Fulton.
