SFHS Devils beat Gleason, Bruceton

SFHS 56, Bruceton 55

In boys’ action, South Fulton’s Red Devils followed their female counterparts with a win against Bruceton, 56-55.

South Fulton had a 6 point deficit at the end of the first quarter, down 16-10, but then came back in the second to outscore Bruceton by 2, ending the first half 27-23 in favor of Bruceton.

Third quarter play resulted in South Fulton scoring 18 points to Bruceton’s 19, but the fourth quarter would be the deciding factor, with the Red Devils pumping in 15 points to their opponents’ 9, for the one point win in favor of the Devils, 56-55.

South Fulton’s Brady McFarland had 21 points to his credit, going 3 for 5 at the line and hitting nine 2-point goals from the field.

Conner Allen came away with 12 points for the Devils, hitting two of five free throws attempted and five 2-point baskets. Team mate Heath Harris also had 12 points from three 2’s and two 3-point range buckets.

Logan Cromika and Dane Cirkles had 4 points each on the night, with Sam Angelos adding 2 and Dylan Ruddle, 1 in the win.

Bruceton’s Preston Hollingsworth had 20 points against the Devils and Owen Crocker, 14.

SFHS 68, Gleason 67

A win is a win, even if it’s by 1 point, which is the outcome of the South Fulton versus Gleason Jan. 20 contest, in favor of the Devils.

South Fulton’s Brady McFarland and Conner Allen had 27 and 24 points in the Red Devil win, respectively. McFarland hit six 2-point buckets, plus one basket from three point range, as well as 12 of 16 free throw attempts. Allen hit six 2-s, two 3’s and connected on 6 of 7 trips to the line.

Charles M. Mulcahy had 10 points for the Red Devils from four 2-point goals and a couple of free throws, with Logan Cromika adding in 3 points and Conner O’Neal and Dane Cirkles, 2 points each in the win.

Gleason’s Kade Sawyers and Kylar Borneman had 15 points a piece in the game.

The Red Devils led the way at the close of the first quarter, 17-14, and then drove it home with an additional 16 points on the board in the second to Gleason’s 7. South Fulton was ahead by 1 at the end of the third, 51-40, and despite a Gleason surge, scoring 27 points in the fourth, the Red Devils held onto the lead they worked so hard to accomplish, and won the game, 68-67.

Bradford 60, SFHS 40

South Fulton High School’s Red Devils fell to Bradford Jan. 17, 60-40.

Bradford jumped ahead 24 to 7 in the first quarter, securing a 40-19 advantage at the end of the first half of play.

The Devils did outscore their opponent 10-7 in the third, and then just two points less than what Bradford put up on the board during the fourth quarter, but the first half was the deciding factor in the 60-40 South Fulton loss.

Red Devil Brady McFarland had 17 points with a three point basket and four 2’s, plus was good on 3 of six trips to the line.

Charles M. Mulcahy had 8 points for the Devils, four 2-point goals and Dane Cirkles recorded 7 points, from three 2’s and a free throw. Conner Allen had 5 points and Dylan Ruddle had 3 points for SFHS.

Bradford’s Cason Sharp had 20 points and Bryce Arnold, 16.
