AREA OBITUARIES - Donald Markle

Charles Donald “Poppy” Markle, 81, of Hickman, Ky., went home to be with the Lord 4:40 p.m. Mon., April 22, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sat., April 27 at First Pentecostal Church in Union City, Tenn. Rev. Billy Uzzle and Rev. Dwayne Uzzle will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at First Pentecostal Church from 6 - 8 p.m. Fri., April 26 and from 12 p.m. until the hour of services Sat., April 27.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Uzzle, Michael West, Bradley Uzzle, Javin West, Jarett West, Luke Baxter, Jon-Tyler Hamil and Ryan Hamil.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Russom, Dennis McDaniel, Scott Baker, Randy Jones, Madison Uzzle, Eric Williams, Jordan Davis, Chase Jones, Zane Hopkins and Zachary Hopkins.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Fulton County, Ky., son of the late Robert Edward and Essie Ozell (Bowlin) Markle.

He married Doris (Stanfield) Markle March 2, 1963.

Donald had been a self-employed truck driver for many years and retired as a truck driver for Coffey & Sons Trucking Company. He was a founding member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Hickman, Ky., that later moved to Union City to become the First Pentecostal Church of Union City. He was a former Sunday school teacher at the church in Hickman.

He also served in the United States Army and the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Markle, of Hickman; two daughters, Becky Uzzle and husband Bryan, of Central City, Ky., and Stacy West and husband Michael, of Hickman; four grandchildren, Brittany Baxter and husband Luke, of Florence, Ala., Bradley Uzzle and wife Brooke, of Bremen, Ky., Javin West and wife Madison, of Clinton, Ky., and Jarett West and wife Carly, of Union City; eight great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Jae West, Landyn Baxter, Clint Uzzle, Cayson Baxter, Sawyer Uzzle, Kohen West, Jett West and Aubrey Uzzle; and one sister, Bethel Smith, of Missouri.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Edgin; and four brothers, James Markle, Bobby Markle, Franklin Markle and Edward Markle.
