HICKMAN'S PECAN FESTIVAL ALL DAY SATURDAY! HICKMAN'S PECAN FESTIVAL ALL DAY SATURDAY!

The Hickman Recreation Tourism Committee now has raffle tickets available for purchase, to be entered in a drawing for two prize baskets and has established Pecan Festival Bake-Off rules for this Saturday. 
Winners of the drawings will be drawn during the Oct. 19 Pecan Festival at Hickman's Jeff Green Memorial Park. The two baskets to be given away Oct. 19 at the Pecan Festival will include gifts and goodies, to include items such as a $50 Walmart gift card, $50 Hub’s gift card, a weather radio, candles, Freshies, commemorative coffee mugs, pecans from Kentucky Nut, Pecan Festival t-shirt and more.Tickets may be purchased for $5, one ticket, or three tickets for $10. Proceeds will go back into funding community events, sponsored by the HRTCC.
Items to be entered in the Pecan Festival Bake-off may be dropped off at the Hickman City Park from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Contest participants must live in Fulton County.
All entries must be homemade, no store bought items considered for judging. Items which require refrigeration will not be accepted.
All entries should be brought to the park in a covered, disposable container.
Categories include Cake/Cupcake, with a 1/4 of a cake or four whole cupcakes submitted; Pie, with a 1/4 pie to be submitted; Cookie, four individual pieces to be submitted; and Brownie/Bar, four individual pieces to be submitted.
All entries must contain pecans. Items will be judged on general appearance, texture and flavor.
Winners will be announced at 12 noon Oct. 19. A first, second and third place ribbon will be awarded in each category and an Overall Grand Champion will be awarded a cash prize.
The 2024 Pecan Festival Opening prayer and a welcome will take place at 9:30 a.m., at Hickman's Jeff Green Memorial Park and at 9:45 a.m., the Pecan Festival King and Queen  will be announced, followed by the winner of the Classroom Scarecrow contest at 10 a.m.
The Pecan Bake-Off judging will begin at 12 noon, with all entries to be submitted between 7-11 a.m. Oct. 19. 
Karaoke will take place from 2-4 p.m.
Local singer and songwriter Jay Black will be on stage for a free concert from 1-2 p.m.
Scott Allen Shell and Trainwreck will take the stage from 4:30-6 p.m., and the band, Stronghold will perform from 6-8 p.m.
A designated place within the park will be available for yard sales all day.
Bouncy houses will also be on site all day for children to enjoy at no cost.
Raffles for a whole smoked Boston Butt, gift certificates and more will take place throughout the day. All raffles will require winners must be present to win.
A number of vendors will be in place, including Slow Rolling BBQ, Taco Truck, Smokey G., Shaved Ice and ore. 
Kids of all ages will enjoy Magic Mr. Nick’s Dinosaur Crew, on a return visit to the Pecan Festival, and a replica of the famous K.I.T.T., from the television series, Knight Rider will be on display, by owner David Walton.
The due date for vendor applications has been extended to Oct. 14. All vendors who would like to set up or the day may submit applications by that date, or contact the HRTCC to make arrangements for submitting the application the day of the event, to reserve space.
