AREA OBITUARIES – Norma Jean Byrd

Norma Jean Byrd, age 87, of South Fulton, Tenn., passed away Thurs., Oct. 8, 2025 at the Charter Assisted Living in Paris, Tenn.
She was born on May 9, 1938 in Obion County, Tenn. to the late Albert Monroe Hamlin and Esther Mae Harrison Hamlin.
Jean was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Union City, Tenn. She worked as a seamstress at the former Henry I. Siegel (H.I.S) and the former Brown Shoe Company.
She was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and a St. Louis Cardinal fan.
She is survived by two sons, Terrell Glynn Byrd, of Clinton, Ky., and Gary Lynn (Angie) Byrd, of Martin, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Carolyn Jean Byrd Bass of Paris, Tenn., Christopher Terrell Byrd, of Marion, Ill., Ryan Byrd, of Medina, Tenn., Ashley Baker, of White House, Tenn., and Garrett Byrd, of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Morris Byrd; four brothers, Johnny, Arvell, James and Charlie Hamlin; and two sisters, Ruth Caksackkar and Mary Jo Duke.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., Oct. 13, 2025 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Peasant View Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
