Following action by the City Commission, Fulton’s citizens will now have an option for “special pickup”, after the city’s most recently negotiated trash pickup contract with WCA did not include bulk/special trash pickup.

Dumping hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the Fulton Public Works Department facility, 600 Fourth St.

According to Fulton City Manager Mike Gunn, hours could be revised, according to determined needs.

The first step, Gunn said, will be for residents to come to Fulton’s City Hall and obtain a permit, which must include the applicant’s name, address and the date.

Flat rates will be charged for Trash Bags, household, $2; Trash Bag, large, $3; full size pickup truck, full, $50; full size pickup truck, half full, $30; small truck or trunk, full, $20; small truck or trunk, half full, $15; trailer, 10-14 ft., full, $60; trailer, 10-14 ft., half full, $50; trailer, 15-16 ft., full, $90; and trailer 15-16 ft., half full, $60.

Regarding single item dumping, for depositing household furnishings such as baby furniture, chairs, mattresses, box springs, chairs, tables, couches, chests, appliances, televisions, etc., a price per pound of .25 cents will be determined, based on an estimated weight chart.

Some items will be prohibited at the Public Works Department site, including paints, stains, varnishes, used motor oil, filters, automotive fluids, explosives, fireworks, syringes, lancets, pool chemicals, propane cylinders, batteries of any type, tires of any type, grass clippings, leaves, limbs, shrub clippings, appliances not certified freon free and industrial chemicals.

City staff will not be responsible for unloading bulk waste at the site.

The dumping site is only intended to be used by residential citizens residing in the corporate limits of the city of Fulton, with contractors performing work for citizens expected to remove their own debris, and Public Works employees may inspect incoming loads for compliance prior to dumping.
